🎥 Is Mixo The Rekordbox Alternative DJs Have Wanted?

If you play on Pioneer DJ or Alpha Theta gear, this might change how you prep your music. There's a tool called Mixo, and it lets you export your whole DJ library from a master version in the cloud straight to a USB stick in Rekordbox format. Plug that stick into pretty much any CDJ or standalone player in the world, of course, and you're ready to go. The clincher though, and it's a good one, is that you never have to open Rekordbox to do it. Now, the export feature in Mixo isn't actually brand new. It's been there a while, but they've kept chipping away at it. And the reason I'm covering this now is that several of our students have been telling us that it works really well, and it's a true alternative to the official way of doing things. So, why is this good? Well, of course, exporting to USB is how most of us play out without lugging a laptop along, right? You prep at home, you drop your tracks and your cue points onto a stick, and the gear in the booth reads it. But, with Mixo, it's not just Rekordbox. The same trick works everywhere else. You prepare once in Mixo, and then you send it out to the Rekordbox stick for the Pioneer booth, an Engine stick for a Denon setup, or straight back into Serato, Traktor, or Virtual DJ for your gear at home. And that's really what Mixo is. It's a cloud DJ library. You download the desktop app, which runs on Windows and Mac and Linux. You import your music, and then Mixo uploads the lot to your own Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Then, you sync that library to your phone, iOS, Android, and you can play and tidy up wherever you want. Your cue points, your beat grids, your waveforms, your artwork, it's all there in the cloud. It syncs perfectly across all your devices. And the other thing that Mixo does is convert between software. So, it can import everything from Rekordbox, Traktor, Serato, Virtual DJ, Engine DJ, DJ Pro, even open source Mix, and it brings your playlists and cues and beat grids along, too. So, you're not stuck inside one piece of software's library forever. You can hop between the platforms. And now you can go from laptop prep to standalone gear without throwing away all that work you've done with your tracks. Now, I'm going to level up. I haven't tested Mixo for 3 whole years. It's been around for a while. So, this is a heads-up for now. But, the idea is a smart one, especially if you've got gear and software from more than one camp. I'll try to get it tested soon.
